Timeless Elegance at this stunning Bali Wedding

Romantic, intimate and timeless would be three words you could use to describe the stunning Bali wedding of Singapore locals, Charlotte and Don. An aisle littered with beautiful white petals, candles nestled upon long tables draped with soft, grey linens and a bride and groom with only eyes for each other made this spectacular Uluwatu wedding one for the ages.

Set high atop the cliffs on the picturesque grounds of Pandawa Cliff Estate, Charlotte and Don favoured a neutral palette, complimented by an abundance of white flowers and lush greenery. The inclusion of the BEH Bentwood Chairs ensured a beautifully timeless and contemporary feel and helped create a Bali wedding their guests would never forget.

We couldn’t let this stunning wedding slip by without asking our beautiful Bali Bride Charlotte to open her little book of secrets and reveal the what, the who and the how that led to her creating such a magical Bali wedding day.

Tell us, how did you meet? Was it love at first sight?

We met in Melbourne when I was there finishing up my Master’s degree. Don is originally from Melbourne and I like to think it was love at first sight for him.

What about the engagement story? Can you give us a snapshot?

We got engaged whilst on holiday in Hong Kong after a fantastic day out by one of the beach bars. It was an intimate proposal with just the two of us and took me completely by surprise. Don had arranged to have our hotel suite filled with red roses and candles. I of course immediately said yes! Following that we had to cancel all our dinner plans as I couldn’t stop crying out of happiness.

So, you decided to become Mr & Mrs… Why Bali?

Bali has always been one of our favourite holiday destinations as we both love the beach. There is nothing better than a Balinese sunset and we decided it would make the perfect backdrop for our wedding. Also, Bali is kind of in the middle of Australia and Singapore, making it an equal commute for both sides of our family.

How did you choose your Bali wedding planner? What was her/his Super Power?

Amore had planned a few of our friend’s weddings and came highly recommended. I could basically tell her exactly what we wanted and she would get back to us all with all the options on how to make it happen. She was very detail oriented, down to giving me 10 different sample shades of grey cloth so I could decide on one to use for my table cloth. She made all my design dreams come true!

Did you have a theme for the wedding? And was it a late-night Pinterest obsession?

There was no specific theme but we wanted the décor to look timeless – colours were kept to a minimal with purely white flowers and greenery. We used lots of candles and fairy lights to add some sparkle.

I really wanted the vibe to be romantic and intimate so we had billowing tablecloths, long rows of floral arrangements across the tables and the white Bentwood chairs from BEH sealed the deal and gave the entire set up a nostalgic yet contemporary feel.

And yes, there was definitely a slight Pinterest obsession!

Did you sit down for a formal dinner or party the night away with canapés and cocktails?

We did a buffet style sit-down dinner with Indonesian favourites to keep things more casual. We also invited Hog Wild (previously Naughty Nuri’s) to do a live BBQ station and cook up some of their delectable ribs.

What was the most challenging aspect about planning a destination wedding?

In hindsight, planning was a breeze with Amore’s help. The most challenging aspect was actually handling all the older out-of-town family and friends that were not familiar with Bali. We had to sort out everything for them from hotels to drivers and even where to eat. This really took a toll on us especially when we had lots of last minute things to do before the wedding.

Talk to us about your hair and make up. Who was your muse?

I wanted a fresh faced, no make-up look. Unfortunately, the message was lost in translation for my makeup artist. Let’s not talk about it!

Tell us about your D R E S S?

It took a while and many misses to find my dress, but I’m glad I settled on it eventually. It was a v-neck, low back, fully beaded design by Galia Lahav that was incredibly comfortable to wear and most importantly allowed me to dance!

What was THE most memorable part of your big day?

As cliché as it sounds, it was probably the fireworks show that my husband and I had planned as a surprise for our guests. In Singapore and in Melbourne, you’re not really allowed to have your own fireworks display so it was an extra special request we had. My husband and I loved the little moment we shared in each other arms watching the fireworks.

Looking back on the wedding pictures we saw many of our couple friends in each other’s arms having a moment together too, which is exactly the outcome we were hoping for.

If there was one piece of advice you could give a Bali bride planning their big day, what would it be?

Get the best makeup artist you can afford and photographer as well! Don’t skimp on those. And also, use Amore! She was the best.
